Hunter Node-100 Details
The Hunter Node-100 is a compact, battery-powered controller for irrigation zones where AC power isn't available. Programming is done with push buttons instead of the rotary dial found on standard Hunter controllers. A dedicated function button moves through the programming screens, and the up and down arrows change whichever item is flashing. A protective rubber cover keeps dirt off the face of the unit. A clip mounts the controller directly on top of the valve solenoid for a neat, fast installation.
To install the battery, unscrew the rear body to reach the battery tray. Connect the battery with the snap connector and make sure no water has entered the compartment. When you reassemble the housing, line up the seal marker on the rear half with the front half so the unit seals properly. Program data is stored in non-volatile memory, so you can change the battery without reprogramming the controller.
The display has three operating states. In idle mode, it shows the time, the day of the week and the battery-life indicator. After a short period of inactivity, the screen turns off to save power, and pressing any button wakes it again. In run mode, it shows the station number, program letter, remaining run time and a blinking Rotor icon. The battery indicator has three levels: Full (100–60%), Med (60–25%) and Low (25–0%). When it reaches Low, replace the battery immediately.
After you set the run time for the last station, the Total Run Time Calculator shows the total irrigation time for that program. Any change to the seasonal adjustment updates all displayed run times immediately. For example, a 20-minute run time becomes 10 minutes when the adjustment drops from 100% to 50%. When you use Odd/Even watering, that selection is the only cursor shown on the screen.
Manual Watering lets you test a station or a program and ignores the weather sensor. During a manual run, the arrow buttons change the remaining time, and the navigation buttons jump to the next or previous station. To stop a cycle, reduce the time to zero. Sensor Bypass is started by pressing and holding a button from idle mode. A crossed umbrella icon stays on the screen while the sensor is overridden, and a plain umbrella icon shows when the sensor is suspending irrigation.
Easy Retrieve memory stores a preferred schedule in permanent memory. To save or restore it, press and hold a button combination for five seconds. Dashed lines move left to right while saving and right to left while retrieving, and DONE flashes when the process is finished. Each new save overwrites the previously stored program, so check your schedule before saving.
A controller reset is done by holding three keys until the screen goes blank and 12:00 flashes. A countdown from 10 to 1 may appear. A reset erases the current program but keeps the Easy Retrieve copy. The troubleshooting guide covers the most common problems: a blank display, incompatible solenoids, wrong AM/PM settings, a miswired rain sensor and extra start times that cause repeated watering.
