Lowrance Hook Reveal 7x TS Details

The Lowrance Hook Reveal 7x TS is built around a keypad interface and a customizable Home page with a Tools panel, application page icons and a Customize option. A short press on the Power key opens the System Controls dialog, which gives quick access to backlight, Night mode, data overlay, sonar logging and panel split adjustment. Active functions show an orange bar above their icon. Repeated short presses on the Power key cycle through the preset brightness levels.

To save energy, Standby mode turns off the sonar and the screen backlight while the system keeps running in the background. A short press on the Power key returns the unit to normal operation. In an emergency, pressing both Zoom keys creates a Man Overboard waypoint. The display then switches to a zoomed panel centered on the vessel and shows navigation information back to the first MOB point. You can create more MOB waypoints, but navigation to later ones must be started manually.

Genesis Live builds real-time depth contour maps from live sonar soundings recorded to the memory card. More passes over an area produce better maps. Users can adjust transparency and contour interval, and choose a Navigation, Depth shading, Paper chart or Safety shading palette. Safety shading highlights water shallower than a defined safety depth. The feature turns itself off if the card is removed or full, and its data is not adjusted for tidal offset.

In the DownScan view, FishReveal adds fish arches to the high-resolution image. It has its own Sensitivity, Colorline, Surface clarity and Palette controls. On the traditional sonar view, the Custom and Ice Fishing modes offer Ping speed, Scroll speed, Noise rejection, Surface clarity and Colorline. These help reduce clutter from bilge pumps, engine vibration, wakes and temperature inversions. The Amplitude scope shows echo strength by width and color intensity, and DownScan images can be overlaid on the regular sonar view.

StructureMap places SideScan imagery on the GPS plotter, with settings for transparency, palette, contrast, water column and clearing live history. For the best images, Lowrance recommends steering so that tall structures such as wrecks pass to one side of the boat rather than directly underneath. You should also avoid overlapping history trails when scanning an area side by side. The water column option shows bait schools, but it can reduce how accurately the image is placed on the map.

The alarm system checks for dangerous situations and system faults continuously. Alarms have no time-out: they stay active until you acknowledge them with Close or Disable, or until the cause is fixed. For maintenance, the unit has no field-serviceable parts. Rinse the screen with fresh water, then dry it with a microfiber or soft cotton cloth. Do not use solvents, pressure washers or car washes. A protective sun cover is sold separately.

The built-in Service assistant creates a support report on a memory card. The report includes the software version, the serial number and data from the settings file. Software updates are downloaded from lowrance.com to a non-mapping card and installed at power-up. A Simulator with a retail demo mode and your own sonar source files lets you practice onshore. The Sun/Moon and Trip info tools add useful planning data.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can't find the answer you need? Here are some frequently asked questions about the Lowrance Hook Reveal 7x TS Fishfinder, and we answer them below.

What does TS mean in the Hook Reveal 7x TS name?
TS stands for TripleShot. It combines traditional Sonar, DownScan Imaging and SideScan in one transducer. SideScan and StructureMap work only on TripleShot models with a SideScan-capable transducer connected.

Can I use chart cards with the Hook Reveal 7x TS?
No. The Hook Reveal X Series cannot read chart cards. It uses a GPS plotter page for waypoints, routes and trails, and Genesis Live can create real-time depth contour maps on a memory card.

Which frequencies does SideScan and DownScan use?
Both use 455 kHz and 800 kHz. 455 kHz gives the best range, while 800 kHz gives the highest detail, especially in shallow water.

How do I create a Man Overboard waypoint?
Press the Zoom In (+) and Zoom Out (-) keys at the same time. The unit saves a MOB waypoint at the vessel's position and immediately shows navigation information back to it.

How do I take a screenshot?
Press the Pages key and the Power key at the same time.

How fast can I travel while using Genesis Live?
Genesis Live is accurate at speeds of up to 20 knots. Making several passes over the same area improves the resulting contour map. Note that the data is not corrected for tides.

Which file formats can I use to record sonar logs?
You can record in .slg (Sonar only), .xtf (Structure only, for select third-party viewers) or .sl2 (Sonar and Structure). SideScan .sl2 logs can be converted to StructureMap .smf files. For faster conversion, keep logs at 100 MB or less.

How many custom pages and panels can I set up?
You can have up to 9 pages, and each custom page can hold up to 4 panels. You can adjust panel sizes with the Adjust splits option in the System Controls dialog.

How do I update the software?
Download the update from www.lowrance.com to a non-mapping memory card and turn the unit off. Insert the card and turn the unit back on. Do not turn off the unit or remove the card until the update is finished and the unit has restarted.

How can I correct the depth reading for my boat?
Use the Depth offset setting. Enter a negative value, such as -0.3 m, to measure to the lowest point of the boat. Enter a positive value, such as +0.5 m, to measure from the waterline. Enter 0 to show depth below the transducer.

Can I calibrate the water temperature reading?
Yes. If the transducer can measure temperature, you can calibrate the reading between -9.9° and +9.9°. The default is 0°.

How do I back up my waypoints, routes and trails?
Use the export option in the Storage dialog to save everything, or only a selected region, to a memory card. You can choose User Data File version 2 to 6, or GPX if you are moving the data to another brand's unit.

How should I clean the screen?
Rinse the screen with fresh water, then dry it gently with a microfiber or soft cotton cloth without pressing. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, ammonia, alcohol or high-pressure water.
