Indesit IWDC6125 Washer-Dryer Details

The Indesit IWDC6125 is a freestanding washer-dryer. Its control panel has an ON/OFF button, a WASH CYCLE knob, a TEMPERATURE knob, a DRYING knob, function buttons with indicator lights, and a START/PAUSE button with its own indicator. A row of indicator lights shows the progress of each phase: Wash, Rinse, Spin/Drain, Drying and End of cycle. The same lights also count down the remaining delay when a delayed start has been set.

The programme list is split into groups. The Daily group covers White Cotton at 90°C, 60°C or 40°C, plus Cotton, Coloured Cotton and Synthetics (4.5 kg, 1000 rpm). The Special group has Wool (2 kg, 800 rpm), which is suitable even for hand-wash-only garments, and Silk/Curtains (1 kg, no spin). The Sport group has Sport Intensive, Sport Light and a Special Shoes cycle for up to two pairs of fabric shoes.

The Jeans programme washes up to 4 kg at 40°C in about 80 minutes. Turn garments inside out and use a liquid detergent. Two dry-only programmes, Cotton (5 kg) and Synthetics (4 kg), can be combined with the DRYING knob to set either a time or a dryness level. The manual lists guideline drying times of 255 minutes for a full cotton load and 180 minutes for synthetics when drying to Cupboard dry.

The function buttons add more control. The 1200-600 button lowers the spin speed. Intensive Wash uses more water at the start and runs a longer cycle for tougher soiling. A quick-wash option adjusts drum rotation, temperature and water to small, lightly soiled loads, which saves time, water and electricity. If you choose a function that is not compatible with the selected cycle or another function, its indicator light flashes to show it has not been activated.

A load balancing system runs before each spin. The drum turns slightly faster than its wash speed to spread the laundry evenly. If the load stays unbalanced after several attempts, the machine spins at a lower speed or skips the spin and keeps redistributing. The manual recommends mixing small and large items. A single heavy item such as a duvet can cause repeated balancing attempts.

The detergent drawer has three compartments. Nothing goes into compartment 1. Compartment 2 is for powder or liquid wash detergent, and compartment 3 is for fabric softener and other additives, which must not overflow the grid. Hand-wash detergents are not suitable because they produce too much foam. Each drying cycle ends with a cool-down phase without heat to protect the fabrics. The water tap must stay on during drying.

Maintenance is simple. The pump cleans itself, but a pre-chamber behind the lower front panel catches coins and buttons and can be opened for cleaning. The detergent drawer lifts out to be rinsed. The inlet hose should be checked once a year, and the door should be left ajar after use to prevent odours. The door lock has its own indicator light, and the door opens about 3 minutes after the cycle ends.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can't find the answer you need? Here are some frequently asked questions about the Indesit IWDC6125 Washer-Dryer, and we answer them below.

How much laundry can the Indesit IWDC6125 wash and dry?
It washes up to 6 kg and dries up to 5 kg in a cycle. For larger wash loads, split the laundry after washing and dry it in batches using the Drying only programmes 11 or 12.

What should I do before using the machine for the first time?
Remove the 4 transit screws and the rubber bush with its spacer from the rear, and fill the holes with the plastic plugs supplied. Level the machine, then run wash cycle 1 with detergent and no laundry.

At what height should the drain hose be installed?
The drain hose should be connected between 65 and 100 cm from the floor. Do not push it more than 15 cm into a standpipe, or the machine may self-siphon.

Why won't the door open?
The door stays locked while the DOOR LOCKED indicator light is on. Wait about 3 minutes after the cycle ends, or press START/PAUSE during a cycle and wait for the light to go off.

Why doesn't the machine dry?
Check that the DRYING knob is not set to 0, that the door is closed, that the START/PAUSE button has been pressed and that the water tap is turned on.

How long does the Express Wash & Dry cycle take?
Programme 13 washes and dries up to 0.5 kg of lightly soiled laundry in about 30 minutes.

How long can the start be delayed?
The Delay Timer can postpone the start by up to 9 hours. Press the button repeatedly to choose the delay. The fifth press turns the function off.

Why did the machine switch itself off?
The automatic standby system switches the machine off after about 30 minutes with no activity. Press the ON/OFF button to wake it up again.

Why is the machine vibrating heavily during spin?
The feet may not be level, the transit bolts or packaging may still be in place, the machine may be trapped between cabinets, or the load may be unbalanced.

How do I get rid of odours in the machine?
Run wash cycle 1 with detergent and no laundry as a service wash, and leave the door ajar between uses.

Which items should not be tumble dried?
Do not tumble dry foam rubber, shower caps, waterproof textiles, rubber-backed items, or clothes washed with flammable solvents.

What does the guarantee cover?
The machine has a 12-month parts and labour guarantee for domestic use in the UK or Republic of Ireland. Registering the appliance activates a 10-year parts guarantee.
