Lexin G16 Intercom Details
The Lexin G16 handles audio sources in a fixed order of priority. Mobile phone calls come first, then intercom talk, then music, FM radio and GPS audio. A higher-priority function always interrupts a lower one. For example, an intercom call interrupts stereo music, and an incoming phone call interrupts intercom talk. Riders therefore never miss an important call while listening to music or talking in a group.
The box includes everything needed for installation: the main unit, 40 mm speakers, boom and button microphones, a microphone holder, a clamp plate with rubber pads, an add-on mounting pad, a 3M tape bracket, speaker pads, a Type C cable, an Allen wrench with four screws and a dismounting stick. The clamp bracket sits between the helmet padding and shell. Extra rubber pads and longer screws fit thicker shells. The adhesive option needs 15 seconds of pressure and 24 hours to cure. LEXIN recommends the screw bracket over the 3M tape.
The main unit slides down onto the bracket until it clicks. You remove it by pushing it up with the dismounting stick. The speaker with the shorter wire goes on the left ear and the longer one on the right, which also improves FM reception. Spacers help with deep ear pockets. The button microphone suits full-face helmets and the boom microphone suits open-face helmets. Point the triangular mark on the boom microphone toward your mouth.
Controls are simple. To power on or off, hold the Power and Intercom buttons together for about one second. A voice prompt then announces the power state and the battery level. You can also hold the Down button during standby to hear the battery level. To pair a phone, hold Power for about five seconds while the unit is off, until the LED flashes red and blue. The same process pairs a Bluetooth GPS navigator for voice turn-by-turn directions.
Music and phone functions use short click combinations. Double-clicking Up or Down skips tracks. Double-clicking Up in standby redials the last number, and double-clicking Down opens the voice assistant. Music sharing lets one G16 stream its current music to a second unit after both double-click the Power button. Holding Up for five seconds turns auto-answer on or off, confirmed by a blue or red flash.
To turn the FM radio on or off, hold Power for about one second. Double-click Up or Down to search stations, and double-click Power to save a favorite. When all presets are full, a new save overwrites the oldest one. A single click on the Light button turns the headlamp on or off. Holding it for six seconds starts or stops the SOS strobe.
For group riding, you pair units one after another in a chain. You alternate between the Intercom button alone and the Intercom plus Down combination. Each unit starts in 4-way mode when powered on. For five or more riders, hold Power for eight seconds each time you power on, because this setting is not saved. If a middle unit disconnects, the group splits into two separate groups. Universal pairing also lets the G16 talk to intercoms from other brands.
For maintenance, avoid dust, extreme heat, cold, drops, harsh chemicals and paint, and never open the case. The warranty covers only the original buyer and excludes misuse, neglect and third-party equipment. To make a claim, you need proof of purchase and must prepay shipping.
