Dyson V8 Vacuum Cleaner Details
The Dyson V8 can be used as a full-length stick vacuum or as a handheld. To switch to handheld mode, take off the wand and click any tool straight onto the inlet. Every attachment uses a quick-release connection: it clicks into place and comes off when you press the release switch. This makes it quick to move from floors to stairs, upholstery, car interiors or high shelves without stopping the clean.
Each cleaner head suits a different surface. The Motorbar™ cleaner head has de-tangling vanes that clear wrapped hair from the brush bar while you clean. The Fluffy™ cleaner head combines soft woven nylon, which picks up large debris, with anti-static carbon fibre filaments that pull fine dust from hard floors. The Hair screw tool has a conical, anti-tangle brush bar that spirals hair off the bar and into the bin.
The manual gives clear advice on floor care. Before cleaning rugs, carpets or other flooring, check the manufacturer's recommended cleaning instructions. Also check that the underside of the cleaner head is free of objects that could scratch the floor. Some rugs may fuzz under a rotating brush bar. If this happens, Dyson recommends vacuuming without the motorised floor tool and contacting the flooring manufacturer.
Empty the bin as soon as dirt reaches the MAX mark. Using the machine with a bin that is too full reduces performance and means the filters need washing more often. To limit dust contact, Dyson suggests covering the bin tightly with a dustproof bag while you empty it, then sealing the bag before throwing it away. To clean the bin fully, remove the cyclone with the release button behind it, then release the red catch to slide the bin off.
Clean the bin only with a damp, lint-free cloth. Never put it in a dishwasher, and do not use detergents, polishes or air fresheners. Both filters can be washed in cold water until the water runs clear. Filter A only fits when its five arms line up and the arrow points towards the main body. Filter B twists off anti-clockwise and clicks back clockwise. Do not dry either filter in a tumble-dryer or near a naked flame.
Of the brush bars, only the Fluffy™ brush bar is washable. Dry it upright with the closed end at the top. The Motorbar™ and Mini motorised tool brush bars come out after you unlock their end caps with a coin. These parts must only be wiped, never washed. The Hair screw tool comes apart into three parts using a red locking lever. You should never wash any end cap.
The battery LEDs show the charge level in two ways. During use, three, two or one solid blue LED means high, medium or low charge, and one flashing LED means the battery is empty. While charging, one to three flashing LEDs show the charge building up, and all the lights go off once charging is complete. For the longest battery life, Dyson recommends using Powerful mode for most cleaning.
Before checking for blockages, always disconnect the machine from the charger and let it cool. Avoid touching the trigger and watch out for sharp objects. Check both ends of the wand, the brush bar and the air inlet of the cleaner head. Register the machine using the serial number on its underside.
