Danfoss RX1 Receiver Details
The Danfoss RX1 is the single-channel model in the RX range of electronic radio-frequency receivers. The range also includes the RX2, RX2C, RX3, RX3B and RX3B-VF. The RX1 is the receiving end of a wireless heating control system: it takes signals from a compatible Danfoss RF room thermostat and switches a boiler, zone valve or other heating load. Because the thermostat and the switching hardware are separate, you can put the thermostat in the best spot to sense temperature without running cable back to the boiler.
The manual sorts compatible thermostats into three groups. Each group uses a different method to start pairing. Type A covers the TP5000-RF, TP5.2-RF, TP5E-RF, RT51-RF, RT52-RF, RT1-RF and RT2-RF. Type B covers the TP7000-RF, TP75-RF and WP75-RF. Type C covers the RET B-RF and CET B-RF. On Type C units, the LEARN button sits under the setting dial.
Pairing, which the manual calls the Learn process, has two steps. First, put the thermostat into transmit mode. On Type A, press and hold the minus and plus buttons together for 3 seconds. On Type B, hold the LEARN button for 3 seconds. On Type C, take off the dial and hold the LEARN button underneath for 3 seconds. Don't refit the knob until pairing has finished. Once triggered, the thermostat transmits continuously for 5 minutes.
Second, while the thermostat is transmitting, press and hold PROG and CH1 on the RX1 together for 3 seconds. Keep holding until the green light flashes, which confirms the receiver has learned that thermostat. On multi-channel models you have to wait 5 minutes before pairing each extra thermostat. The RX1 has only one channel, so you pair it once.
The front panel has three indicators. The zone status LED lights when the zone is calling for heat ("ON"). The receiver status LED flashes whenever the unit receives a radio signal, which helps you check the link during commissioning. The programming buttons are only meant to be used during setup.
A key safety feature is the Emergency "ON" button. If radio contact with the thermostat fails, for example because of interference or flat thermostat batteries, you can press it to turn the heating on manually. When communication comes back, the receiver returns to AUTO by itself and the thermostat takes over again, so you don't need to reset anything.
The output relay is a changeover contact with three terminals: common (COM), Zone 1 ON and Zone 1 OFF. This means the RX1 can drive both normally-open and normally-closed devices, such as spring-return zone valves, boiler demand inputs or pump circuits. Because the contact is voltage-free, it also suits low-voltage boiler interfaces. For a mains-voltage switched output, the manual says to link terminals L and 2.
The installation guide comes in English, French, German, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Greek, Polish, Lithuanian and Italian. The wiring diagrams use a shared multilingual legend for terms like Electronics, COM, Zone, Boiler, CH (central heating) and HW (hot water), so installers in different countries can follow the same drawings.
