Dyson V6 Vacuum Cleaner Details
The Dyson V6 (SV03) has two diagnostic systems: one on the main body and one on the battery. On the main body, a solid blue light means Max mode is on, flashing blue means the battery is low, and fast flashing blue means there is no power because of a temporary fault, such as a dirty filter or a blockage. On the battery, flashing amber means a temporary fault, often because it is too hot or too cold. Flashing red means a fault that needs the Dyson Helpline.
The battery lights also show the charging status. Solid blue means the battery is charging. Flashing blue means it is not charging, and you should refit the charger or try another socket. Solid amber means charging has stopped for a temporary reason, usually temperature. To make the battery last longer, the manual says not to recharge it straight after a full discharge. Let it cool for a few minutes first. Also avoid running the appliance with the battery flat against a surface, so it stays cooler.
To empty the bin, first disconnect the appliance from the charger and remove the wand and floor tool. Press the red button once to open the bin base. Press it again to release the clear bin from the main body. To limit contact with dust and allergens, put the bin inside a plastic bag before emptying it. Clean the bin with a damp cloth only. Never use detergents, polishes or a dishwasher. Clean the cyclone shroud with the brush on the combination tool.
To wash the filter, lift it out of the top of the appliance. Run cold water over the outside until the water runs clear. Then squeeze and twist it with both hands to remove the excess water. Lay it on its side to dry for at least 24 hours. Never put it in a washing machine, tumble dryer, oven or microwave. You may need to wash it more often if you vacuum fine dust or mostly use Powerful suction mode.
If the cleaner becomes blocked, the automatic cut-out makes the motor pulse on and off before it shuts down. Let the appliance cool, disconnect it and check for sharp objects. To reach blockages in the floor tool, use a coin to undo the padlock-marked screw on the base plate. You can remove the brush bar the same way. The carbon fibre brushes may irritate the skin, so wash your hands after touching them. The guarantee does not cover clearing blockages.
On floors, check the flooring manufacturer's cleaning advice first, because a rotating brush bar can make some carpets fuzz. Before cleaning polished wood or lino, check that nothing is stuck under the floor tool that could leave marks. Do not leave the cleaner head in one place on delicate floors. Do not press down too hard on it. Some carpets can build up small, harmless static charges in the bin or wand.
The battery is a sealed unit. If it ever leaks, do not touch the liquid. If it gets on your skin, wash with soap and water. If it gets in your eyes, rinse them for at least 15 minutes and get medical help. Before you dispose of the appliance, remove the battery and recycle it under local rules. The 2-year guarantee does not cover reduced battery run time caused by age or use. It also does not cover normal wear, such as the brush bar, or using the cleaner on rubble, ash or plaster.
