Karcher K2 Universal Edition Details
The Karcher K2 Universal Edition is a compact, electric high-pressure cleaner for domestic use. It cleans machines, vehicles, buildings, tools, facades, terraces and gardening tools with a high-pressure water jet, and cleaning agents can be added when needed. The kit includes a trigger gun with a lock, a high-pressure hose held by a clamp, a spray lance with a high-pressure nozzle, a washing brush, a foam nozzle for effective detergent foam, detergent, and a hose coupling for connecting to the water supply.
The unit has built-in storage for its accessories. There are dedicated places for the mains cable, the high-pressure hose, the spray lance and the trigger gun, and a carrying handle for moving it by hand. To connect the high-pressure hose, you pull out the clamp on the trigger gun, insert the hose and push the clamp back in until it locks. Pulling on the hose confirms the connection is secure. The water connection has a built-in sieve that catches impurities before they reach the pump.
Several safety devices protect the user. The appliance switch (0/OFF and I/ON) prevents the washer from starting by accident, and the trigger gun lock keeps the lever from being pulled unintentionally. The auto-stop function uses a pressure switch to turn off the pump when you release the lever, which stops the jet. Pulling the lever turns the pump back on. The manual says these safety installations must never be modified or bypassed.
For cleaning with detergent, the manual recommends spraying it sparingly on a dry surface and letting it work without drying, then rinsing the loosened dirt off with the high-pressure jet. Detergent can only be added in low pressure mode. The washing brush can also be used with detergent, but it must be free of dirt and particles to avoid scratching the paint. Keep a distance of at least 30 cm on painted surfaces and tyres.
To shut down properly, release and lock the trigger, switch the unit off, unplug it and close the tap. Then press the lever to release any remaining pressure and detach the water supply. For breaks longer than five minutes, also switch the unit off. Before frost, drain the unit by running it with no hoses attached for no more than one minute, then store everything in a frost-free room. When transporting it in a vehicle, secure it so it cannot shift or tip over.
The manual describes the unit as maintenance free. The only regular care task is cleaning the water inlet sieve: pull it out with flat pliers, rinse it under running water and put it back without damaging it. For troubleshooting, the manual covers venting air from the pump, cleaning a blocked nozzle with a needle, and checking the voltage and water supply. A slight leak from the pump is normal. If the leak gets worse, contact authorized Kärcher service.
