Firman 3650 Model P03603 Details
The control panel is built around the 4-in-1 Data-Minder multimeter. Pressing the SELECT button cycles it through output voltage, frequency and total running hours, and a separate indicator lights when the oil level is low. Each receptacle group has its own cover to keep out dust and debris, and there is a ground terminal for connecting to local grounding systems. On the frame you'll also find a fuel gauge, a red line fill indicator in the tank neck, a holder for the remote and a built-in bottle opener.
The wireless remote start only works when the engine switch is set to RUN and the battery switch is ON. Pressing START cranks the engine for 3 to 5 seconds. If it doesn't start, the system tries five more times, and the indicator light flashes after six failed attempts. Once the engine is running, electrical output is held back for 15 seconds to let it warm up. Pressing STOP starts a 15-second cool-down before the engine shuts off.
The remote receiver draws current from the battery whenever it is armed, so a battery switch left ON for several weeks can drain the battery completely. The manual says to turn the battery switch OFF after every use. The remote comes paired from the factory. To pair a replacement, hold the program button for about 3 seconds, press STOP to erase the old pairing, press START to pair the new remote, then hold the button again until the light goes out.
For a recoil start, leave the choke in START for only one pull, then move it to RUN for up to three more pulls. Too much choke fouls the spark plug or floods the engine. FIRMAN counts the first 5 hours as the break-in period. During that time, keep the load at or below 50% of running watts and change it from time to time so the piston rings seat and the stator windings heat and cool. Check the oil before each use or every 8 hours.
Start the generator with nothing connected, let the engine settle, then plug in the largest load first and add other items one at a time. Output voltage depends on engine speed, which is set at the factory. Readjusting it voids the warranty. Power drops by about 3.5% for every 1,000 feet of altitude and about 1% for every 10°F above 60°F. Above 5,000 feet, 85 octane fuel is acceptable. Don't use fuel with more than 10% alcohol, such as E85.
For use at high altitude, FIRMAN offers optional main jets: part 335717002 for 3,000 to 6,000 feet and part 335717003 for 6,000 to 8,000 feet. Change the oil after the first 25 hours and then every 100 hours. Clean the air filter every 50 hours. Service the spark plug, fuel strainer and spark arrester every 100 hours. Check valve clearance and clean the combustion chamber every 250 hours. To clean the foam air filter, wash it in kerosene, let it dry, then soak it in clean engine oil and squeeze it out.
Clean the generator with a damp cloth, a soft brush or compressed air at 25 PSI. Never use a hose. When it is running, keep at least 5 feet of clearance on all sides and overhead. Before storing it for 30 days or more, add fuel stabilizer, run the engine for 5 to 10 minutes and then drain the fuel. If you use the generator rarely, run it for at least 30 minutes every month. It comes with a three-year limited warranty and a two-year emissions warranty.
