EPH RFRP-OT Thermostat Details
In AUTO mode the RFRP-OT runs on the times and temperatures you have programmed. There is no OFF period. Instead, each of the six daily programs has either a higher or a lower temperature, so to switch the heating "off" at a certain time you give that period a low setpoint. The heating comes on whenever the room is colder than the setpoint for the current period. The factory program heats to 21°C at 06:30 and 17:30 on weekdays (08:00 and 17:30 at weekends) and drops to 10°C for the other periods.
You start programming by pressing PROG. In 5/2d mode you set Monday to Friday first, then Saturday and Sunday. While in PROG mode, pressing PROG again jumps to the next period without changing its temperature, and pressing TIME moves to the next day or block of days. The COPY function only works in 7d mode. It copies one day's schedule to as many other days as you choose, and you can skip any day you don't want to change.
You can change the schedule temporarily or permanently. In AUTO mode, pressing the up or down button sets a temporary override, shown as "OvEr", which lasts until the next switching time. Pressing MAN sets a permanent override that stays active until you change mode. To cancel either one, press OFF and then AUTO. The BOOST button raises the temperature for 1, 2 or 3 hours, and works in every mode except holiday mode.
The Holiday function switches the heating off between a start date and an end date. Press HOL, then enter the day, month, year and hour under "HOLIDAY FROM" and again under "HOLIDAY TO". When the holiday ends, the thermostat goes back to the mode it was in before. Pressing HOL again cancels holiday mode early.
To pair the thermostat with an RF1A-OT receiver, press Connect on the receiver so that its red light flashes. Then press Connect on the thermostat, which shows "nOE", then "---", and finally "r01" once the link is made. Press OK to finish. CombiPack4 kits come already paired. To unpair from the thermostat, hold COPY for 10 seconds until "Adr" appears and press OK twice. To unpair from the receiver, hold its Connect button for about 10 seconds.
To open the installer menu, hold PROG and OK for 5 seconds. Option P01 sets the control mode: Normal, Optimum Start or TPi. In Optimum Start mode, the thermostat starts heating early so the room reaches the setpoint on time. You choose a Ti value of 10, 15 or 20 minutes, which is the time it allows per 1°C of temperature rise. The maximum early start is 180 minutes. For example, with Ti=20, a room at 18°C starts heating at 05:30 to reach 21°C by 06:30.
In TPi mode, the heating is switched on and off in cycles so the room does not overshoot or undershoot the setpoint. You can set 2, 3, 6 or 12 cycles per hour (default 6). The proportional band can be set from 1.5 to 3.0°C in 0.1°C steps (default 2°C). Option P02 limits the setpoint range (defaults: 35°C high, 5°C low). P03 adjusts the switching differential (HOn 0.4°C, HOFF 0.0°C), P04 calibrates the temperature reading, and P05 turns frost protection on or off.
To lock or unlock the keypad, hold the up and down buttons together for 10 seconds. The backlight can be set to OFF or AUTO by holding OK for 5 seconds. A battery symbol warns you when the batteries need replacing, and the unit shuts down if they are not replaced. To reset the thermostat, use the side RESET button and confirm with "rst yes". When you set the date and time, you can also turn daylight saving time (DST) on or off.
