CAT CJ1000DXT Car Jump Starter Details
The CAT CJ1000DXT jump starter has a Jump Starter Power Switch. Power only reaches the clamps after they are correctly connected to the battery and frame. Keep the switch in the OFF (0) position while you attach the clamps. If the clamps are on the wrong terminals, the backlit LCD flashes the Alarm Icon and the Reverse Polarity Icons, and a continuous alarm sounds. Turning the switch on with the clamps reversed permanently damages the unit. If the switch is on and no battery is detected, a two-second warning sounds every 10 seconds.
The unit works with both negative-grounded and positive-grounded vehicles. On the more common negative-ground system, connect the red clamp to the positive terminal. Then connect the black clamp to the chassis or engine block, away from the battery. Never attach it to the carburetor, fuel lines or sheet-metal body parts. Crank the engine in 5–6 second bursts. The Jump Starter Icon flashes while the unit is ready and stays lit once the engine starts. Turn the switch off and remove the black clamp first. Make sure the compressor is off before you jump-start.
The compressor remembers the last pressure setting, which makes regular tire top-offs quicker. While you set the pressure, the display alternates between the flashing target value and the actual reading. Holding a button scrolls through values faster. Inflation stops automatically at the target pressure. At high pressures the motor may slow down for a few minutes to avoid overheating. The Sure Fit® nozzle screws onto valve stems. The nozzle adapter is for balls and other inflatables, which can fill very quickly. The hose and adapter each have their own storage compartment.
The AC outlet is powered by a modified sine wave inverter, which suits most electronics, transformers and small motors. It will not run appliances that produce heat, such as hair dryers, microwaves or toasters. It is not approved for medical devices, and some laptops may not work with it. To check if a device fits the limit, multiply its amp rating by 120 to get watts. The quick start chart gives typical loads: about 5–10W for an internet router, 9W for an LED bulb and 18W for a 22-inch LED TV.
The inverter shuts down automatically if the internal battery voltage is too low or too high, if it overheats, or if it detects an overload or short circuit. When this happens, the Fault Icon flashes on the LCD. The inverter also turns off when the unit switches to charging mode. The four USB ports supply power only and do not transfer data. A translucent ring around each port lights solid blue when the ports are active and flashes blue when there is a fault. Connect only one device per port and never use USB hubs.
The unit ships partially charged. You cannot overcharge it using the AC charger. Turn all functions off while charging, because they slow the process. Sometimes a drained unit shows four bars right away because of high internal battery impedance. If this happens, charge it for the full 40 hours anyway. When the battery is empty, built-in low voltage protection turns the unit off. Use an extension cord of the correct wire size; for cords up to 25 ft, 18 AWG is enough. The unit turns itself off once every function is off.
The CJ1000DXT is designed for household use only and is not rated for boats. In a garage, keep the unit at least 18 inches above the floor, because its switches can spark. Store it upright, away from sunlight, heat and moisture. Never jump-start a frozen battery. The battery cannot be replaced or serviced and must be recycled. Before disposal, cover its terminals with heavy-duty electrical tape. Register the product at baccusglobal.com within 30 days of purchase.
