Ebac 2650e Dehumidifier Details
The Ebac 2650e belongs to the 2000 Series, which Ebac built for the damp, changeable British climate. Its job goes beyond stopping condensation and mould. Lowering indoor humidity makes it harder for dust mites to breed, and that may help people whose allergies or asthma are triggered by mites. Ebac also says drier, warmer air may help with arthritis, bronchitis and rheumatism. Moist air absorbs heat, so the unit can also help lower heating bills.
Before the first use, open the water container door, take out the container, put it back and close the door. This resets sensors that may have been triggered in transit. Ebac recommends leaving the unit on standby around the clock, even when it is not running, so that Smart Control can keep monitoring the home. Keep internal doors ajar so air can circulate, and keep external doors and windows closed so heat is not wasted.
Placement affects performance. Put the dehumidifier as close as practical to the area with condensation or damp, ideally in one of the coldest parts of the home, and away from radiators and other heat sources. It should stand on a flat, even surface. It must not become an obstacle or hazard, and it must never be placed directly at the top of the stairs. Ebac notes that it normally takes 2 to 4 weeks to bring household humidity under control.
Once excess moisture is gone, switching from SMART HIGH to SMART LOW keeps automatic control but runs the unit for fewer hours each day, which lowers running costs. SMART LOW may not suit every home or every season. If signs of damp come back, switch to SMART HIGH, or to MAX when you produce more moisture or outdoor conditions get worse. The MAX function overrides Smart Control and fan settings, which makes it well suited to drying laundry.
With an optional high-performance filter fitted, the unit can also work as an air cleaner in Continuous Fan Mode. In this mode the fan symbol turns amber, and pressing the Full Fan Speed button again speeds up filtration. The built-in automatic defrost system clears any ice on the evaporator coil behind the filter. Do not use anything to speed up defrosting, because the unit contains R290 refrigerant.
The red indicator lights up when the water container is full, and water collection then stops. To empty it, open the access door, lift out the container, empty it, and refit it with the outlet on the left-hand side. Clean the dust filter at the rear with a vacuum cleaner on low power. Skipping this maintenance can permanently reduce performance. The permanent drainage bung must always be in place on the back of the unit.
Safety rules include keeping ventilation openings clear, never poking objects into the grilles, and never immersing the unit, plug or cord in water. Ebac recommends plugging the unit straight into the mains. An extension lead is allowed only if it is correctly rated, fused and not overloaded. Store the unit in a well-ventilated room with no ignition sources running continuously, and protect it from mechanical damage. Only Ebac may service or repair it.
Several accessories are available: the DDA507 activated carbon filter pack for odours from pets or smoking, the DDA510 carbon filter with antibacterial treatment, the DDA108 filter housing, the DDA268 castor kit for easier moving, the DDA110 drainage kit for unattended use in holiday homes or cellars, and the DDA200 replacement water container. During the warranty period, registered owners get unlimited repairs for mechanical failure, including collection and return delivery.
